Xavi wants to be Qatar Coach

Former Barcelona captain Xavi Hernandez has revealed he is hopeful of becoming the Coach of the Qatar national team.

The central midfielder, 37, is still in his playing career after moving to the Gulf nation two years ago to join Al Sadd after 17 years at the Camp Nou.

“I’m here to help players improve so they are able to compete with the rest of the world,” Xavi is quoted by Marca as telling a press conference.

“My aim is to be the Coach, it would good for me and I need some experience for my future career. I have the advantage of knowing the Qatari players and the football environment here.”

Qatar host the World Cup in 2022 and it’s possible that Xavi, who won the 2010 World Cup with his native Spain, could be in charge.
