Barca & Madrid vie for Odriozola?

Real Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly vying to sign Real Sociedad right-back Alvaro Odriozola.

According to AS, Odriozola’s debut for Spain against Albania on Friday, which yielded an assist, caught the eye of Madrid’s management, to the extent that they will consider making a move for him next summer.

However, whether Los Blancos pursue the 21-year-old would depend on how he progresses for the rest of the season.

Nonetheless, despite being under contract with La Real until 2022, the newspaper notes his €40m release clause is ‘affordable’ for the capital giants.

Madrid have only Dani Carvajal as a recognised option at right-back following Danilo’s exit over the summer.

Castilla teenager Achraf Hakimi started against Espanyol before the international break, but reports suggest Carvajal is facing two months out due to a heart problem.

On the other hand, Mundo Deportivo claims Barca “haven’t forgotten” about the starlet, regardless of their recent swoop for Nelson Semedo.

Odriozola only broke into La Real’s first team at the start of the year, but his performances earned him a place in Spain’s squad for the European Under-21 Championship, where La Roja finished runners-up.
