Barcelona’s Luis Suarez is set to undergo surgery in November to remove a synovial cyst from his right knee, say reports in Spain.
Diario Sport state the month has been deliberately chosen in order to minimise the number of matches the striker will be unavailable for.
Uruguay are expected to have qualified for the World Cup by that stage and the scheduled international break will allow him a fortnight to recover when there is no competitive action.
It is expected he will be sidelined for between two and three games so he is unlikely to miss more than two games at club level, although the exact dates have yet to be made public.
