Shibasaki out until December

Getafe midfielder Gaku Shibasaki is facing a further two months on the sidelines after scans revealed a metatarsal fracture in his left foot.

The Japanese international came off injured during the side’s 2-1 loss to Barcelona on 16 September, in which he netted a stunning opening goal, but is still some way from returning to the fray.

Scans showed a fracture to his fifth metatarsal in his left foot with the expectation he will now miss at least a total of twelve weeks of action, rather than earlier reports of six weeks.

The 25-year-old became the first player from Japan to score against both Barca and Real Madrid – following on from last season’s Super Cup, when he was then at Kashima Antlers.

He enjoyed a six-month stint on loan at Tenerife in La Liga 123 last season before a summer move to the Madrid-based club, who defeated the Islanders in the promotion playoff final.
