Atletico Madrid are on the verge of finalising a deal for Racing Club striker Lautaro Martinez, according to reports.
The Argentina Under-20 international was reported to have a €9m release clause in his contract but fresh reports suggest a deal has been struck at €12m as a show of good faith from Los Rojiblancos.
Diario AS cites a report in Argentine media outlet Ole with the club’s sporting director Andrea Berta travelling to Buenos Aires to conclude a deal.
There is also speculation that Ligue 1 champions Monaco were keeping tabs on the striker, hence the delay in Atleti tying up the deal.
It also states that Martinez’s agent Rolando Zarate is pushing for the deal to go through and the Argentine should complete his move to the Wanda Metropolitano in January.
Diego Costa and Vitolo are both joining Diego Simeone’s side in the New Year and a series of exits over the next twelve months are expected.
