Saul: Atleti must improve attack

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez believes his side must show more attacking intent after a scoreless draw at Leganes.

Diego Simeone’s side have scored only six goals in their last seven outings and have been held to scoreless draws on three occasions already this season.

“We have to analyse ourselves and all the players have to put in more,” Saul told an interview with Marca.

“We have to show more intent when we are attacking and show greater desire, to be more reliable and more effective.

“Fatigue? I don’t think that hampered us – Leganes sat back very deep and we needed to show patience and attempt to move around their defence.

“They played very well and deserved a point from the fixture but again we failed to score a goal and that is something we must address.

“(Costa) will not be able to play until January so we have to find solutions before then and trust in other players who will contribute.”
