La Liga Week 7 Saturday round-up

Gianni De Biasi enjoyed his Alaves debut, Sevilla moved into second and Lucas Perez scored his first goal back at Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga Week 7.

Kicking the weekend off were Deportivo, who left it late to beat Getafe 2-1 on Saturday and keep Coach Pepe Mel in a job.

Amath Ndiaye had put Getafe on their way to a second straight victory, but Lucas marked his return at Riazor with the equaliser, before Florian Andone found the winner with just three minutes remaining.

Michel Gonzalez wasn’t so lucky, however, as his Malaga side slumped to yet another defeat, losing 2-0 to Andalusian rivals Sevilla.

A double-goal salvo saw Ever Banega convert a penalty and Luis Muriel score another just two minutes later to let Sevilla leapfrog Atletico Madrid into second place.

However, La Liga came under fire for its decision to schedule the match for Saturday afternoon, when temperatures soared to 35°C.

The visitors, meanwhile, fell to the bottom after Alaves beat in-form Levante 2-0 in De Biasi’s first game at the helm.

Munir El Haddadi broke the deadlock with his first goal of his loan spell from Barcelona, before Alvaro Medran secured the triumph late on.
