Celta ‘looking up rather than down’

Celta Vigo defender Sergi Gomez believes his side ‘will be looking up rather than down’ in La Liga with a victory over Girona on Friday.

The Galician side’s 4-0 victory at Eibar on Sunday was only the second of the campaign under new Coach Juan Carlos Unzue.

“Reaching ten points will be an important landmark for us,” Gomez told an interview with Marca.

“Our objective is to maintain the standard of performance we achieved against Eibar and a win would mean we would be looking up in the table, rather than down.

“A slow start? In life you have to have balance and sometimes things take a little bit of time to properly click but our performances and results are starting to improve.

“Our result at Eibar was impressive but we cannot dwell on it as we already have another game and you must keep working hard to each individual game.

“Did I get the second goal? Honestly, that question offends me! Of course I got a touch on Pione’s (Sisto) delivery but it does not matter if it had not been credited to me.”
