Michy Batshuayi scored with the last kick as Atletico Madrid suffered a dramatic 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Atleti had taken the lead through Antoine Griezmann’s penalty, but Alvaro Morata returned to haunt his old foes, before Batsuhayi fired home a 94th-minute winner to give Chelsea a deserved victory.
Only Sime Vrsaljko and Kevin Gameiro were missing for Diego Simeone's side as Wanda Metropolitano hosted its first-ever Champions League game.
Elsewhere, Diego Godin and Lucas Hernandez formed a new-look partnership at centre-back, while Thomas Partey was preferred to Gabi Fernandez in midfield.
The Blues, meanwhile, lined up in a 3-4-1-2 formation as Cesc Fabregas played behind Morata and the returning Eden Hazard in attack.
The two teams last met in the 2013-14 Champions League semi-finals, when Los Colchoneros beat Chelsea 3-1 on aggregate to set up an all-Madrid final with arch-rivals Real for the first time ever.
Diego Costa was also a spectator, just a day after swapping the English champions for Atleti, while Fernando Torres was only a substitute against his former club.
Three early snapshots for Chelsea saw Morata fire wide of Jan Oblak’s goal, before Hazard hit one into side-netting.
The visitors came even closer moments later, but the No 10’s piledriver was deflected onto the right-hand post, with Oblak nowhere near it.
Morata then powered a header at goal, in yet another Blues chance, but the Slovene managed to tip it over.
However, David Luiz clearly pulled Lucas’ shirt at the near post when a corner went in, allowing Griezmann to send Thibaut Courtois the wrong way from the penalty spot.
Griezmann also scored the Metropolitano's first La Liga goal a fortnight ago, but it was almost cancelled out by Marcos Alonso, whose volley deflected inches wide of the right-hand post.
Nonetheless, Atleti were similarly close to doubling their lead when Saul Niguez’s daisy-cutter was pushed away by Courtois but only as far as Angel Correa, who couldn’t guide the rebound on target.
Morata came inches away from meeting a cross at the far post for 1-1, just after the second half had kicked off, but the former Real Madrid attacker nonetheless got in front of Diego Godin at the near post from Hazard’s cross and brushed a header past Oblak.
The ball was then laid off to an unmarked Fabregas in the six-yard area, but the midfielder scuffed his finish wide, when it was easier to score.
Yet another Chelsea opportunity saw Morata try to dink the ball across Oblak, but he couldn’t get enough curl on his finish and it went wide of the far post.
Like in the first half, Atleti nearly capitalised on a rare opening against the run of play, but the referee deemed there to be insufficient contact when Tiemoue Bakayoko tripped Torres just inside the visitors’ box.
The match appeared destined for a draw, until Alonso was released down the left of Atleti’s area. The Spaniard’s cutback was then blasted in by Batshuayi, merely 10 minutes after his introduction.
Los Rojiblancos consequently remain without a win in Group C, while Chelsea stay top and with a healthy goal difference of +7.
