Berizzo rules out heavy rotation

Sevilla Coach Eduardo Berizzo has rejected suggestions he would rotate his starting eleven heavily for the Champions League clash against Maribor.

Los Rojiblancos fell to a 2-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid on Saturday while they host Andalucian rivals Malaga on Saturday in a busy schedule.

“I don’t plan to rotate the team too much,” Berizzo is quoted as telling his pre-match press conference by Estadio Deportivo.

“For every match you must approach it with different needs depending on that fixture’s requirement but we must be careful and thoughtful of how many alterations we make.

“This is not the game for Muriel and Ben Yedder to play together, we know they can play together but this will not be our plan for Tuesday.

“Nolito is available for selection but Simon (Kjaer) will have a late fitness test before we make a decision on him.

“Fixture congestion? Sevilla are a team that is used to competing in many different competitions and tomorrow's game is what we are used to, but we must play at a higher speed.

“We have scouted Maribor extensively, they are a dangerous opponent – as they all are at this level – they play 4-4-2 and perform very effectively as a team.”
