Suarez calls for end to violence

Luis Suarez has made an appeal for peace in his native Uruguay after football in the nation was suspended following violence.

The Uruguay Football Association (AUF) suspended all football on Sunday after two officials – one of whom a female – were attacked by players and fans at an Under-19 match.

“No more violence in football,” read the post on Twitter from the Barcelona striker.

“Let's live a football in peace and without violence, enjoying this beautiful sport in our country. Let's respect everyone.”

The abandoned match took place in the capital of Montevideo between Platense and Basanez , with both officials needing medical help after the attack.
