Marcelino confirms celebration injury

Valencia Coach Marcelino has confirmed he picked up a muscular injury whilst celebrating his side’s winner at Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Simone Zaza’ late winner at the Anoeta secured a 3-2 victory for Los Che which saw the tactician vigorously celebrate the goal before holding the back of his upper left leg in notable discomfort.

“I pulled a muscle – I'm old and there are certain situations where I have to control myself,” Marcelino is quoted as saying by the club’s official media.

“I’m now limping a bit but it’s better that I am the one who is injured rather than a player, as I will still be able to coach.

“But yes, I’ll have to avoid similar situations arising again in the future.”

Valencia are unbeaten in La Liga after six games, sitting in fourth position with 12 points.
