Preview: Getafe-Villarreal

Fran Escriba returns to Getafe on Sunday for the first time since his sacking last year as Villarreal can make it back-to-back wins on their travels.

Getafe boss Jose Bordalas on rotating his team: “Villarreal have many options, but we could make changes so that those who are eager to play can do so.

“Shibasaki’s injury? The Gaku thing is less serious than it seemed but he’s still undergoing tests.”

Villarreal boss Escriba on ‘maximum difficulty’ posed by his former club: “They haven’t won at home yet but deserve better. They’ve played against Sevilla and Barcelona, two matches in which they deserved much more and only lost in the final stretch of each.

“That indicates their quality and the difficulty of the match, and there’ll be maximum difficulty. They’re a team that have competed, even when results haven’t been kind to them.

“Facing my old team? I have a lot of affection for all the clubs I’ve been at. I was at Getafe on two separate occasions, although it’s true that what happened two seasons ago was a shame.

“I felt their relegation and celebrated their return to La Liga, but my club are now Villarreal and they’re all I care about.”
