Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo believes the Wanda Metropolitano’s hosting of the 2019 Champions League final will be an extra motivation for the club.
The Madrid stadium defeated a rival bid from Baku to host next season’s showpiece in the competition, while Los Rojiblancos have participated in two of the past four finals.
“Of course it would be wonderful for us to be there,” Cerezo is quoted as saying by Marca.
“There is still a lot of time before that and another edition of the competition, with many stages and opponents to overcome.
“It would be a dream to be in that final but also a dream to be in the nearest final, in Kiev.
“We have a very good stadium so the decision doesn’t surprise me, it’s a massive honour for the club and the city so we are happy UEFA agreed with us.”
