Former Sporting Gijon boss Abelardo and former Valencia midfielder Ruben Baraja have been linked to the vacant managerial position at Alaves.
The Basque club are searching for a replacement for Luis Zubeldia, who was sacked by Sunday after just four games in charge.
El Glorioso have lost all four La Liga games this season without scoring a goal while Aitor Karanka, Javi Gracia and Javier Aguirre are among manager’s who have reportedly ruled themselves out of the action.
Abelardo Fernandez has been without a job since ending his three-year stint at Sporting in January while Baraja has recently coached in the second tier with Elche and Rayo Vallecano, with Diario AS linking Alaves to both managers.
