Joaquin: We’ll be fearless at Madrid

Real Betis captain Joaquin has promised his side will be ‘fearless’ when they travel to Real Madrid in La Liga on Wednesday night.

Los Verdiblancos have lost both of their away matches this season at Barcelona and Villarreal but come up against a Madrid side who’ve drawn each of their opening two home league matches.

“We will go to the Bernabeu with a plan and we will be fearless,” Joaquin told Diario AS.

“We are in good form and with all due respect to Real Madrid we don’t fear anybody and we will be aiming for a positive result.

“As a team, we have to go for matches and that’s exactly what we’ll be doing.”

The 36-year-old winger scored both Betis goals as they defeated Deportivo La Coruna 2-1 on Saturday – his first double for the club since a 3-3 draw at Barcelona in 2005.

“It was a very special day,” he told the club’s official website.

“To score two goals in one game after such a long time at home in front of our fans with them all standing and celebrating, that…that, is beautiful.

“This is what fulfils you as a person, as a professional and as a Betico.

“To keep going on you need a lot of hard work but also enthusiasm – I dream of more moments like this.”
