Seri commits season to Nice

Nice midfielder and former Barcelona target Jean Michael Seri has promised to reject any advances from rival clubs for the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old had been linked with a €40m summer move to the Camp Nou but the move reportedly broke down due to the Ligue 1 side not lowering their demands.

“Regardless of any club asking for me this winter, I won’t leave Nice before June,” Seri is quoted by ESPN as telling Le Figaro.

“The summer fallout? It will take more than that to change my mind – a top-level footballer can’t afford to continue thinking about that sort of thing.

“It is now history and you need to look to the future and to making history with this club.”

The Ivory Coast international played a key role in Les Aiglons’ third-place finish in Ligue 1 last season, with his performances prompting some to label him ‘the African Xavi’.
