Atleti train at Wanda for first time

Atletico Madrid have trained at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano for the first time ahead of their weekend match against Malaga.

The Andalucians visit Madrid in Saturday night’s La Liga clash which is the highly-anticipated opening match of the 68,000-seater stadium.

Diego Simeone’s side visited the newly constructed stadium on Thursday to check out the new pitch and using the other facilities, including the dressing room and gym facilities, for the first time.

Los Colchoneros have played their opening four matches of the campaign – Girona, Las Palmas, Valencia, Roma – away from home due to delays in the construction of their new stadia.

The club are planning a 12-hour schedule of events ahead of Saturday’s clash with Malaga to mark the opening of the ground.
