Navas: We believe in ourselves

Jesus Navas insists self-belief and inspiration from their travelling fans helped Sevilla to a draw in Wednesday’s match at Liverpool.

The Andalucian side trailed 2-1 until Joaquin Correa’s second half equaliser, while substitute Luis Muriel could have won it for Eduardo Berizzo’s side in the closing stages.

“We have a lot of confident and belief in ourselves,” Navas is quoted as saying by Estadio Deportivo after the match.

“This team trusts in its abilities and our plan, we have been doing so well the past few years and plan to continue on our path.

“Liverpool are a fast and difficult team – they had better chances in the first half but we were superior in the second, so a draw is probably fair.

“Ultimately this is a good result in context of the group and with our aims and ambitions in mind.

“Our fans were very special – they ensured we played better in the second half and spurred us on, their support is incredible.”
