Marcelo suspension confirmed

Real Madrid full-back Marcelo will be suspended for two matches after his red card against Levante, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have confirmed.

The Brazilian will now miss Madrid’s upcoming trip to Real Sociedad and home clash with Real Betis, although will play against APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Theo Hernandez, a summer signing from Atletico Madrid, made his first La Liga start during the recent 1-1 draw with Levante and is set to replace the 29-year-old for the next two league outings.

Marcelo now joins Cristiano Ronaldo, who will serve the fifth and final game of his ban, on the suspension list for the trip to Anoeta on Sunday.
