Filipe Luis believes new Barcelona signing Paulinho ‘will surprise a lot of people’ after many of the club’s fans questioned the signing.
The Atletico Madrid full-back is an international teammate of the midfielder, signed from Guangzhou Evergrande for €40m in July, while he also spoke of Neymar’s move to Paris Saint-Germain and his clashes with Lionel Messi.
“Paulinho will surprise a lot of people with his ability,” Filipe Luis told the Panenka magazine.
“If he doesn't manage to fit in at Barcelona then he certainly would at Atletico!
“Neymar? Going to PSG was a smart move by him…they will see he is different – he's free and happy.
“His move wasn’t about money, at that level which he operates wages and fees don’t enter your mind really.
“Messi? I admire him! He has never tried to get back at me in any of the games we've played since (Luis was sent off for kicking the Argentine).
“I've never asked for his shirt because I go onto the pitch to win and not for any other reason, it doesn’t matter to me if I am up against Messi or anybody else.”
