Skomina in charge of Barca-Juve

Slovenian referee Damir Skomina will officiate Tuesday night’s Champions League encounter between Barcelona and Juventus.

The 41-year-old will take charge of the clash which is a repeat of last season’s quarter final meeting – which the Italian champions won 3-0 on aggregate – and the 2015 final of the competition.

Skomina presided over last season’s Europa League final between Manchester United and Ajax but his last match officiating at the Camp Nou was in May 2013, when Bayern Munich triumphed 0-3.

He oversaw the Blaugrana’s 2-1 win at Borussia Monchengladbach last campaign whilst he also refereed Real Madrid’s 3-1 home win over Napoli in the Round of 16.

Barca and Juve are both strong favourites to progress from a tricky group which includes Sporting CP and Greek champions Olympiakos.
