Pepe claims Real Madrid “had to motivate ourselves to play” as “the fans weren’t passionate like they are at Besiktas.”
Pepe ended a trophy-laden, decade-long spell with Madrid over the summer as he joined Besiktas, but the defender appeared to hit out at Los Blancos’ fans for not supporting their team enough.
“Madrid? There, we had to motivate ourselves to play. The fans weren’t passionate like they are here,” the defender told La Sexta.
“The Besiktas fans are fantastic. Here, with the fans we have at Besiktas, a player feels very motivated to do well.”
