Leganes-Getafe clash ‘will be historic’

Getafe Coach Jose Bordelas believes his side’s first ever top flight derby match against Leganes on Friday night will ‘be remembered by history’.

The two southern-Madrid sides have never before clashed in La Liga, with Getafe absent from Lega’s debut campaign in the top flight last season.

Los Azulones have picked up only one point in La Liga so far but have been unlucky – their goal at Athletic Bilbao was not accounted for crossing the line while they lost out narrowly to Sevilla the following week despite being the better side for most of the match.

“Whatever the result, this match will be remembered by history,” Bordalas told his pre-match press conference.

“None of our players have experienced this fixture before, many have played for Betis against Sevilla but this is another passionate encounter and we will require the full understanding of it.

“Leganes are a strong side, they have good tactical discipline and do not concede many goals while they are a threat from set pieces too.

“It is important to get the first victory of the campaign as soon as possible but whilst we haven’t scored yet, we remain confident and need to stay calm.

“We are confident we will have a good season, we have not had luck so far but that will come.”
