Odegaard confirms Madrid renewal

Martin Odegaard, the midfielder currently on loan at Dutch club Heerenveen from Real Madrid, has revealed he has signed a new deal at the Bernabeu.

The 18-year-old is cementing his place in the Eredivisie side’ starting line-up after a stint with Madrid’s Castilla side but his current deal was due to run out at the end of the current campaign.

“My contract probably won't run out in 2018,” Odegaard told VG sporten after Norway Under-21’s goalless draw with Israel.

“I've extended my contract but I don't want to say much more on the subject right now.”

Odegaard began his career at local Norwegian side Stromsgodset and has gone on to be capped nine times by his country since move to Madrid.
