Fenerbahce negotiate for Vietto

Fenerbahce are negotiating with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of striker Luciano Vietto although the club’s are ‘far apart’, say reports in Spain.

The Argentine striker has been heavily linked with a summer exit from Diego Simeone’s side all summer but Diario AS say they will only let him depart on a permanent deal, with the Istanbul club preferring a loan move.

The Turkish transfer window remains open until 8 September and Fener are reportedly keen to give competition to Roberto Soldado and Robin Van Persie up front.

23-year-old Vietto netted 10 times in 31 matches for Sevilla last season but did not convince enough in order for the Andalucians to pursue their interest.

The attacker failed to impress in his one season at the Vicente Calderon – scoring just one La Liga goal – and is behind Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro and Fernando Torres in Diego Simeone’s pecking order.

Atleti are reportedly keen on a January return for Chelsea striker Diego Costa, which would further open the door for Vietto’s sale.
