Griezmann clause back at €100m?

The release clause of Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has reportedly dropped back to €100m.

According to AS, Griezmann agreed for it to be raised to €200m when he signed a new contract in July, for as long as Atleti’s ban on registering new players was in force.

However, with the transfer window no longer open, his release clause would have reverted to €100m.

The attacker’s former advisor, Eric Olhats, told France Football earlier in the week that he would have “certainly” left Los Colchoneros if they were not penalised by FIFA.

Griezmann has one more game to sit out in La Liga due to a ban for swearing at a referee but scored in France’s 4-0 victory over Netherlands on Thursday.

AS concludes Diego Simeone is “dreaming” of pairing the 26-year-old with Diego Costa in January but warns the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain could put pay to it.
