Sergio Ramos has requested the Spain crowd at the Bernabeu do not boo or whistle Barcelona players against Italy on Sunday night.
Ramos’s central defensive partner at international level, Gerard Pique, is often booed by the Spain national crowd while his ties to the Catalans may not be well received in the capital.
“Regardless of whether it’s Pique or anybody else you must always respect and support the players,” Ramos responded when asked about reception for Barca players, in quotes carried by Marca.
“What am I asking the fans? This will be a difficult and important match for us so you must support us, it is that simple – we need to perform well and get a result.
“David Villa returning to the squad? I think it surprised everyone, but it is natural he is very well received and he still has a young spirit and always wants to score goals.”
