Barca confident on Coutinho – report

Barcelona still expect Liverpool to sell Philippe Coutinho on Friday but are keeping Angel Di Maria as their fall-back option, say reports in Spain.

El Mundo Deportivo believe the English club will eventually let the former Inter playmaker leave following his transfer request, but don’t think any deal will be possible before the end of the week, when the transfer window closes.

The report continues that agents Kia Joorabchian and Giuliano Bertolucci both continue to work hard in their attempts to push through a move which is valued around €140m.

Liverpool are reportedly hopeful of completing a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches, who the Catalan-outfit believe will take Coutinho’s place in their squad.

Meanwhile, the Blaugrana are intent on signing a forward-thinking midfielder and Paris Saint-Germain’s Di Maria is being ‘held on standby’ in case their deal for the Brazilian falls through.
