Xabi Prieto says “feeling loved is the best trophy” after making his 500th appearance for Real Sociedad in their 3-0 win against Villarreal.
Prieto marked the milestone with a goal as La Real made it two wins out of two for the new season, and the veteran midfielder believes being a one-club man for the Basques cancelled out a lack of silverware in his career.
“Feeling loved is the best trophy. Everyone is free to choose their own path,” he told Cadena SER.
“In my case, I’ve always felt happy at my home. Millions of things have happened in these 15 seasons, but the game is still the same.
“I’m fine and I’ll continue for as long as I can. New Anoeta in 2019? I’ll be another fan at that point. If I play, it’ll be with the oldies.”
