There will be a repeat of the 2016 Europa League final as Sevilla were paired with Liverpool in Group E of Thursday’s Champions League draw.
Los Rojiblancos, who are in the Champions League group stages for a record third successive time in their history, will also face Russian champions Spartak Moscow and Slovenian side Maribor.
Eduardo Berizzo’s side qualified for the tournament after edging past Istanbul Basaksehir in the playoff qualification round.
Sevilla defeated Liverpool 3-1 in the 2016 decider, with Kevin Gameiro and a double from Coke netting for the Andalucians – for whom 12 of the 18-man squad have since moved on from the club, although Ever Banega has since returned.
Having finished 4th in La Liga last year, Sevilla will kick-off the group at Anfield before ending it with a trip to Maribor.
