Vinicius Junior calls for patience

Vinicius Junior insists he must be ‘patient’ despite growing media attention after netting both goals in Flamengo’s 2-0 win over Atletico Goianiense.

The 17-year-old will be permitted to join Real Madrid in June 2018 – when he turns 18 – after completing a €45m move earlier this year, and the forward is finding his feet at Brazil’s top level.

“I believe I must show patience,” Marca quote the teenager as saying.

“I understand people want me to play more games but there is lots of time. The most important aspect for me now is to keep scoring goals and helping Flamengo.

“I am calm and I am happy. It has always been my dream to play as a professional for Flamengo, but I did not know it would happen at just 16. I am proud of this.

“For all I have seen in my short career so far I knew there would be a lot of pressure but I am playing for the best team in Brazil.”
