Atleti’s ambitious Marcos Llorente plan

Atletico Madrid are working on a long-term plan to lure midfielder Marcos Llorente from cross-city rivals Real Madrid, say reports in Spain.

According to Diario AS, the 22-year-old Spanish youth international is seen by Los Rojiblancos officials as a potential future star of a Diego Simeone side due to recovering possession more times than any other La Liga player last season.

Having starred on loan at Alaves last season, the central midfielder has a €200m release clause at the Bernabeu but has family ties to Atletico with father Paco and Grandfather Ramon Grosso having played for the club.

Sevilla have been linked with a loan deal this season for Llorente, for whom Atleti may make an approach for a permanent transfer next summer.
