Preview: Sevilla-Espanyol

Sevilla begin the 2017-18 campaign by welcoming Espanyol to the Sanchez Pizjuan, in a repeat of last season’s 10-goal thriller on the opening day.

Sevilla boss Eduardo Berizzo on his philosophy as a Coach: “I set out to win every game I manage. I don’t try to sell something that I don’t believe in.

“I see each game as playing for 38 League titles. Every match is important. That’s my idea of football.

“I like to start very strongly. This is a game to get ourselves in contention. If you start late, it’s worse.”

Espanyol boss Quique Sanchez Flores on preparing for the new season: “Now we find ourselves in a different situation, we’ve known this since last season.

“We placed a huge burden on ourselves during preseason and we’re going to travel [to Seville] with a mature group of lads, who know what it means to play in the Primera.”
