Former Barcelona assistant Juan Carlos Unzue debuts at the helm of Celta Vigo against an injury-hit Real Sociedad on Saturday.
Celta boss Juan Carlos Unzue on his side’s preparation for their La Liga opener: “I’m very excited. We’re in very good form at the moment because we went from less to more in preseason.
“It’s not easy for us to improve from a mental aspect. We had a very progressive preseason and I can’t complain about how the team have approached this match, although obviously, on a football level, we still have a lot to do.
“Still, you have good and bad moments over the course of a season.”
La Real boss Eusebio Sacristan on losing Inigo Martinez and Adnan Januzaj to injury: “Despite the injuries, we’ve approached the first game in a good way, with enthusiasm and desire.
“We’re feeling good and strong, and we’re excited about this first League match, having a great game and getting the victory.
“I already knew Inigo [wouldn’t make it] because he’d been struggling for a few days. Januzaj’s is a last-minute setback because he felt a problem in his hip.
“We preferred him to rest and resume training on Monday or Tuesday so we could count on him next week.”
