Fenerbahce to sign Fabian Orellana

Fenerbahce are moving closer to a deal to sign winger Fabian Orellana from Valencia, say multiple reports in Spain.

El Desmarque and Superdeporte both claim the player’s agent is in Turkey to finalise the move which is expected to be an initial season-long loan deal with an option to buy.

The Chilean only joined Los Che in January and was the club’s top scorer in pre-season but new Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral has sanctioned his exit.

Sources at Valencia indicate the player’s attitude since being informed he was being sold has been professional and he has continued to train at a high level with the first team.

The 31-year-old moved to the Mestalla at the end of the January transfer window from Celta Vigo after Eduardo Berizzo accused him of ‘an unacceptable lack of respect’ regarding ‘an internal issue’.

Valencia’s stance is that he was a unique and unexpected market opportunity at the time due to Celta’s insistence to sell and his contribution in 16 appearances – including a goal against Real Madrid – justified the outlay in their view.

Diego Alves, Enzo Perez, Alvaro Negredo and Mathew Ryan have all left the club this summer with Aymen Abdennour, Joao Cancelo and Ruben Vezo expected to imminently depart.
