Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder insists the job of qualifying for the Champions League group stages is only ‘half’ completed after a 2-1 victory in Istanbul.
The 27-year-old striker netted a delightful back-heeled finish after a Jesus Navas delivery to seal the victory for Los Rojiblancos after an early crisp strike from full-back Sergio Escudero.
“This is a very good result but we have not yet qualified for the group stages, we are only halfway there,” Ben Yedder is quoted as saying by Estadio Deportivo.
“In this competition all matches are difficult and this was no different, it’s an intimidating venue against a strong opponent.
“The rain also made it difficult, there was a lot of water on the pitch and it made things tricky to play our game.
“But we are pleased with the performance and now our attention turns to La Liga, before hoping to complete the job in Seville.”
