Celta Vigo are set to accept a €10m offer from Tottenham Hotspur for midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop according to various reports in Spain.
Both Cadena Ser and Marca state the Senegalese-born Spanish youth international, who has also been a target for Ligue 1 side Lyon, is likely to join the North London club this week.
The 20-year-old is regarded as a dynamic box-to-box midfielder and despite having a reported release clause of €30m in his Celta contract, the club will demand only a fraction of that fee.
Diop progressed through the Galician club’s youth system and made 19 appearances last season, but only five were starts in La Liga but did play a role in his side’s run to the Europa League semi finals.
He is set to become the first signing of the summer for Spurs in a deal which is widely recognised as being extremely modest in the current summer market.
