Xavi: Neymar sale strange, Seri…

Xavi Hernandez admits “it’s strange” that Neymar no longer wanted to play for Barcelona but believes Jean Michael Seri has the club’s “DNA”.

Neymar sacrificed Barca and playing alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to join Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record €222m, with the forward expected to become the main man in the French capital.

“It’s strange that a player doesn’t want to stay at Barca, very strange even. It’s been 17 years since Luis Figo went to Real Madrid,” the Catalans’ former playmaker told L’Equipe.

“He didn’t give any explanation. He left Barca without giving a Press conference or anything.

“Still, we have Messi, the best player in the world, Suarez, the best striker, Pique, Iniesta, Busquets, the best in their positions.”

Xavi then spoke in glowing terms about Nice’s Seri, who has been described as his African heir.

“Seri? He’s fantastic,” he added.

“He has, what Barcelona call, the Barca DNA. My last season? It’s time to say goodbye.”
