Enzo excited for Alaves chance

Alaves midfielder Enzo Zidane, son of Real Madrid boss Zinedine, has spoken of his excitement at getting first-team opportunities at his new club.

The 22-year-old joined the Basque club earlier this summer following a permanent departure from the Bernabeu.

The eldest of Zinedine’s four children appeared in 78 games for Madrid's Castilla reserve team, scoring seven goals with 15 assists.

“The squad here is very close and I’ve felt welcome from the first day,” Enzo told the Alaves website.

“I am learning a lot every day in training, the quality in the squad is high and the sessions are excellent – it’s a really professional set-up.

“It’s been a tremendous experience and so was the official presentation (of his signing) as I didn’t expect so many fans (reportedly upwards of 10,000) to turn out and welcome me.

“Our aim this season? To give the best for them and for the club to have another successful season just like last time.

“I am looking forward to playing my first match in Mendizorroza – it will be a special experience.”
