Stefan Savic is hopeful Diego Costa returns to Atletico Madrid and believes he is ‘one of the most important players in the world’.
The Montenegro international defender was speaking after his side’s 3-2 pre-season victory at Brighton on Sunday and spoke openly on the possibility of the 28-year-old returning to Los Rojiblancos.
“If he comes, we know he could improve the quality of any team,” Savic is quoted as saying by Diario AS.
“He is one of the most important players in the world. There is not much else to say about him.”
Spain international Costa has seen a breakdown in relations with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer following the arrival of Alvaro Morata.
