Quique Sanchez Flores has urged Espanyol to sanction more signings before the end of this month. “We shouldn’t be playing midfielders in defence.”
Espanyol drew 1-1 with Hamburg on Sunday, which was suspended for 10 minutes in the second half after the Catalans’ protest to Pablo Piatti being sent off got out of control.
However, Sanchez Flores was more concerned with the fact that his club had signed just four players and still had not brought in any recognised defenders.
“We would’ve liked to approach the game in a different way, but we’ve found it difficult to reinforce the team,” the Coach said after the game.
“We had to think a lot about how to tackle it. They had a great game, but we shouldn’t be playing midfielders in defence.
“Still, these are things that, even in preseason, can be addressed.”
