French minister joy at Neymar deal

Neymar’s proposed move to Paris Saint-Germain is excellent news for France’s government according to the nation’s account minister.

Le Figaro newspaper estimates the Brazilian will rake in an annual sum of €37.5m in tax and social security payments to France due to his weekly wage of €550,000.

“The minister of public accounts is delighted by the extra tax income Neymar will pay in France if he joins a French club,” Minister of Public Action and Accounts, Gerald Darmanin, is told France Inter radio station.

“It’s better that this footballer pays his tax here instead of elsewhere.

“The country’s interests, and its financial interests in particular, will be well taken care of.”
