Malaga to sign Sevilla’s Gonzalez

Malaga are in ‘advanced negotiations’ with Sevilla for the transfer of highly-rated defender Diego Gonzalez, say reports in Spain.

Seville-based El Correo report the 22-year-old is set to exit Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan due to lack of playing time and his fate has been sealed by the club’s pursuit of Fenerbahce’s Simon Kjaer, who is undergoing a medical at Sevilla.

The defender began with his career with Cadiz and spent a year at Granada before joining Los Rojiblancos in 2015 aged 20, but has made only 10 first team appearances in that time.

Last year Gonzalez extended his contract at Sevilla until 2019 but he is now keen to guarantee more first-team football, but it is unclear if the deal will be a loan with an option to purchase or a permanent transfer, according to Diario AS.
