Borja Baston disappointed by Swans

Malaga striker Borja Baston admitted his experience at Swansea City was a disappointing one and believes his parent club did not give him an opportunity.

The 24-year-old became the Swans record signing last summer in an €18m transfer from Atletico Madrid but netted only once in twenty appearances before returning to La Liga in a loan deal last month.

“It was not what I had wished for,” Baston told an interview with Diario AS.

“I was really excited to go to the Premier League after the seasons I had in Spain and after arriving as the most expensive signing in the club’s history, I was disappointed they give me the chance to show what I could do.

“Swansea have had a Spanish tradition and the people of the city treated me well, the fans were great with me and my team-mates were excellent.

“Of course things were different, the weather and food in particular but I have no regrets as I learnt a lot with the move.

“(Bob Bradley) drove the team mad; he made lots of changes and we didn’t know what we were trying to do. In the end, with the arrival of Paul Clement, the team settled and we managed to stay up.

“Returning to Swansea? My intention is to give everything to Malaga, have a good season, and help the team finish as high as possible. That is my objective. I don’t have more future aims, I think about the present.”
