Marcelino delight at Valencia progress

Valencia boss Marcelino is delighted with his side's pre-season progress following their win over Bournemouth.

Los Che won their friendly match on England's south coast 1-0 thanks to Fabian Orellana's second half strike.

Speaking post-match, the Mestalla Coach expressed his gratitude to his players' attitude following a gruelling recent schedule.

"We had come from the United States with a time change and hard sessions and the players responded wonderfully," Marcelino commented.

"I am very grateful for their behaviour and attitude to bring things together according to the style of play. We are very satisfied.

"Frankly, we were very good. We conceded very little, we dominated the match.

"In some aspect of our play we were faster than I was hoping, but I repeat we are in pre-season."

Marcelino, appointed by Valencia in May, added that it will take time before it is possible to tell whether his squad will be capable of improving on two disappointing 12th place La Liga finishes.

"When the team has had ten or twelve competitive matches we will be able to have a clearer idea of what we are and what we could be."
