Jonathan completes LA Galaxy switch

MLS side LA Galaxy have completed the transfer of Villarreal midfielder Jonathan Dos Santos, where he will join older brother Giovani.

The 27-year-old, who made 34 appearances for the Yellow Submarine last season – scoring twice and assisting three goals – will now join his brother Giovani who made the switch from El Madrigal to Galaxy two years ago.

"Jonathan is a quality player that we think instantly becomes a top midfielder in Major League Soccer," stated Galaxy general manager Pete Vagenas in relation to the deal, thought to have been priced at around €4.3m.

"His signing will significantly improve our team as we continue to push for the playoffs and, ultimately, a sixth MLS Cup. We believe Jonathan will be a leader during the second half of this season and for years to come. We look forward to him joining our squad."

Villarreal’s signing of Malaga midfielder Pablo Fornals may have helped smooth the exit of the Mexican midfielder, who has spent the entirety of his professional career in Spain after starting off at Barcelona.
