Reports link United to Bale

Gareth Bale could potentially still leave Real Madrid this summer with reports in Spain once again linking him to Manchester United.

The front page of Wednesday’s Diario AS states United boss Jose Mourinho is ‘running after’ the Welshman, stating he is ‘open to strengthening his team’ when asked about Bale.

Furthermore, reports on Tuesday indicated Manchester City believe Los Blancos will need to sell Bale to find a place for Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe.

“I’m happy with my squad but I’d like to have two more players,” Mourinho responded when asked directly about the former Tottenham star.

“A midfielder, who would give me more options and give the team more balance and the other, an attacking player – especially one which can play on the wings – which would also give me more attacking options.

“But I never speak about players who belong to other teams. I don’t like it when other managers come along and say they like one of my players – that’s not the correct thing to do.”

When United and Madrid clashed earlier this week in the International Champions Cup, Mourinho joked with the Welsh international before the match: "I cannot buy you because you do not talk up!"

However, it is worth remembering that very recently the United boss ruled out a move for any Madrid star due to the difficulty in any negotiation.
