Villarreal confirm Fornals deal

Villarreal have completed the signing of Spain international Pablo Fornals from Malaga in a €12m deal after the midfielder paid his own release clause.

The 21-year-old spent five years at the Villarreal youth academy before leaving in 2008, heading first to Castellon and then Malaga in 2012.

The highly-rated midfielder, who debuted for Spain earlier this year, has signed a five-year deal at El Madrigal and is the latest high-profile Malaga departure this summer following Carlos Kameni, Sandro Ramirez and Ignacio Camacho.

“Pablo leaves us…another one,” manager Michel lamented on Twitter.

“He said goodbye with his honesty and usual humanity: crying from sadness and not happiness. There must be a reason.”

The playmaker represented the Andalucians in 59 La Liga matches and scored a total of 10 goals across his two-year stint in the club’s first team.
