Swansea interest in Jonathan Viera

Swansea City are to return to Las Palmas to negotiate for the transfer of Jonathan Viera having completed a deal for Roque Mesa, say reports.

According to Canarias7, Los Amarillos knocked back an offer of €25m from the Swans for the attacking midfielder, which fell €5m short of his release clause.

However, Paul Clement’s side will not pay the full €30m to activate the 27-year-old’s contract clause, state Wales Online.

Apparently viewed by the Welsh club as a replacement for the potentially outgoing Gylfi Sigurdsson, the midfielder is also on the radar of both Everton and Newcastle United.

The former Valencia and Rayo Vallecano player rejoined his hometown club in 2014 and has netted 24 league goals in three campaigns.
